Evaluation- Part 1 Brief

PR Records have hired me to manage the promotion of a new act. In order to this I partnered with Kieran and together we created a music video, magazine ad and a 6 pane digipak.

Ace and Pearl were the choice of my music artist. They are a duo who perform in the genre of hip-hop/soul. I was immediately drawn to the song "Acquired Taste", due to the sound of quirky, piano loops and catchy lyrics.

My song is on a creative commons website called BeatPick. ​

Creative Commons (CC) is a non-profit organisation, devoted to expanding the range of creative works available for others to build upon legally and to share.​ We had to purchase the song and used my friends account to do so.

The music genre is a hybrid genre which has a very niche fan base and artists who actually perform in the genre. This is one reason to why I had chosen the song, because I had seen it as a good platform to showcase a niche genre of music that sounded good. The hip hop element of the song comes from the rapper and the soul element of the song comes from the singers tone of voice. The male (Ace) raps with abrasive tones, whereas the singer (Pearl) has a very, soft and timid feel to her voice. They are both opposites but work very well together as a duo and this ultimately determined us to chose this song, because it is rather different to mainstream songs.
